WeakNet Linux Version 2.0 FINAL (free release June 30th 2009).

WeakNet Labs Brings you, WNLA version 2.0 FINAL! Yes, I have built this one with a more Debian feel to it. Also, I ditched the Gnome GUI and built the Enlightenment E17 GUI instead! It's beautiful, with animated icons, right and left click menus on the desktop, a PERFECT paging system, and a beautiful zooming icon dock for applications.
I built the 1337tool up to have more features as well. I included more tools that WNL and I have coded, and things just have a much nicer feel to them.
Another cool new feature is Web Hacking Portal 4.1! Yes, I coded better PHP, which now has seamless re-directs as the credentials are recorded. If the victim has cookies already set with a session, that session too, is re-initiated, meaning, no evidence of phishing save for the browsing history :P
Login = assistant (always the same)
Sudo passwd = weaknet
Su password = weaknet2
Services Passwd's = weaknet (e.g. MySQL)
Click on any of the screenshots below to see the NEW WeakNet Linux Assistant Version 2.0 Final.
I met Rel1k while at Shmoocon 2009 and got his permission to add the new Fast-Track suite to WNLA, so in the non BETA version expect to see this!

Mer is a new Linux operating system, built upon a thin base of Ubuntu Jaunty combined with the best open-source elements of Nokia's Maemo platform.
The goals of Mer include:
* Improving and developing parts of Maemo that are of interest to the Maemo community.
* Making it easier to port existing desktop applications by hildonizing and adjusting them to the tablet form factor.
* Encouraging third party experimentation and development.
* Supporting tablet hardware no longer receiving updated OS software by Nokia.
* Making Maemo a generic platform for all tablet devices, including non-Nokia ones.
* Focusing Maemo community efforts in platform-related areas
Mission
Mer platform development will be done in the open, with public SCM repository, bugtrackers, and Wiki-based blueprint discussion.
We should stop seeing the tablets as strictly under-powered embedded systems, and see them for what they really are: powerful, power-efficient, economical handheld computers."

"Kon-Boot is an prototype piece of software which allows to change contents of a linux kernel on the fly (while booting). In the current compilation state it allows to log into a linux system as 'root' user without typing the correct password or to elevate privileges from current user to root. It was acctually started as silly project of mine, which was born from my never-ending memory problems :) Secondly it was mainly created for Ubuntu, later i have made few add-ons to cover some other linux distributions. Finally, please consider this is my first linux project so far :) Entire Kon-Boot was written in pure x86 assembly, using old grandpa-geezer TASM 4.0. [...]
All CD-ISO's are working in so called Floppy Emulation mode, which should be handled correctly by 100% of Bioses which support the El-Torito bootable CD format. The ISO images were created by some really basic utilitty created by me, however you can convert the floopy images to iso's by using programs like mkisofs etc. etc."

"CrunchBang Linux is an Ubuntu based distribution featuring the lightweight Openbox window manager and GTK+ applications. The distribution is developed from a minimal Ubuntu install and has been designed to offer a good balance of speed and functionality. [...]
With the exception of a few packages, CrunchBang Linux is built entirely from packages available from the Ubuntu repositories. CrunchBang Linux uses the same APT package management tools and update manager. CrunchBang Linux comes with all the lastest package updates installed and ready to go. If you are already familiar with Ubuntu, you should have no trouble working with CrunchBang Linux.
CrunchBang Linux is infinitely hackable, this is mainly due to the standards compliant light-weight extensible window manager that is Openbox. CrunchBang Linux also comes installed with Conky, the customisable lightweight system monitor; and PCManFM, a very popular and highly configurable file manager.

"ULTILEX stands for "Ultimate Linux Experience". This is a live linux distribution which in turn contains other live linux distributions. You can boot ULTILEX from CD/DVD, as well as from USB device.
When you boot, the first thing you see is a beautiful startup screen where you can choose which live linux distribution to run. The current version of ULTILEX is 2.1.0 and it "wraps" the following live linux distributions:
* Slax 6.0.9
* Finnix 92.1
* System Rescue CD 1.1.6
* Puppy Linux 4.1.2
* Damn Small Linux 4.1.10
One very interesting feature of ULTILEX is that you can easily install it on USB flash device and save the changes you've made durign the live session on it. You can modify files and even install/remove modules and all your changes are saved on the USB flash.
To install on USB flash device, follow these steps (applied from Slax):
1. Copy all files and folders from the CD to the root folder of your USB flash device.
2. Execute "/boot/bootinst.sh" (for Linux), or "\boot\bootinst.bat" (for Windows).
3. That's all. You are ready to boot ULTILEX from your USB flash device! :) [...]
23-Mar-2009: MD5 checksums are available for download. You can find the links next to each available release (currently 2.1.0 and 1.0.1)."

TurnKey Linux Software Appliances announced its most exciting and ambitious batch of releases yet. The 2009.02 release, based on Ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS,
includes 12 new software appliance images (packaged as an installable live CD) and features extensive improvements to usability, security and stability. "We've done a terrific amount of quality assurance on our end and blocked the release until we had resolved every single bug and issue we found."
Highlights:
- New software appliances since last announcement: Ruby on Rails, Mediawiki,
Drupal6, LAPP stack, Django stack, MySQL, PostgreSQL, TurnKey Core
(102MB) and Bootstrap (67MB)
- Rebuilt all appliances on top of TurnKey Core, the new common base for all software appliances, which is assembled from Ubuntu 8.04.2 LTS
packages.
- Security enhancements: SSL support out of the box, regenerating
crypographic keys at installation time, database password setting
during installation.
- Usability improvements: phpMyAdmin included in all LAMP based
appliances, also included many generically useful webmin modules and
improved embedded documentation, configuration console support for
systems with multiple NICs, and password-free login in live CD/demo
mode.
- Many bugfixes including one that fixes a potential breakage to the
daily auto-updates mechanism.
See full release announcement for further details.
We got this far thanks to everyone in the Ubuntu community who tried out
the previous crop of beta appliances, especially those who gave us
feedback and encouragement on the forums. Part of the
what's great about starting out small is that we've been able to keep up
with all comments and questions and personally respond to every single
one of them, even in the middle of a development cycle.
What is a software appliance?
A software appliance is a self contained system combining an application
with just enough operating system to run on real hardware or a virtual
machine (e.g., VMWare, VirtualBox, Xen HVM, KVM)..
Manual installation and configuration of a server solution can be
painful and time consuming, especially for users lacking technical
proficiency.
Some users find that using a pre-integrated software appliance is an
easier way to get up and running quickly, especially in combination with
virtual machine software.
A software appliance allows users to altogether skip manual installation
of the desired application components and required dependencies, and
instead deploy a self-contained, ready-to-use system that requires
little to no setup.
