After a few months of being virtually inactive in the project the time has come for me to step down as the gNewSense project leader. Please welcome Sam Geeraerts in as the new lead maintainer! You will probably see various infrastructure announcements coming from me still, but development news will come from sam in future. Thanks for your support, and please do join in and help Sam with the new release!.

The migrations are complete - thanks for your patience! odyssey.gnewsense.org, our oldest serving VM has been turned off. The lp service is now restored, and bugs has been updated to point to Savannah, our current bug tracker. The bofh service will remain offline for the moment.

We are migrating the remaining services away of our server odyssey as its approaching End of Life. The following services may be affected: {lp,bofh,bugs}.gnewsense.org and http://gnewsense.org. wiki and www should remain unaffected, as will the Savannah hosted bug reports.

We've been getting more wiki spam lately, so we've enabled textchas (captchas in text form) for editing. We hope that this doesn't cause too much inconvenience.

There will be a sheduled outage of www.gnewsense.org and wiki.gnewsense.org on Sunday 19th of September. We will be migrating these sites off pmwiki onto moinmoin, so will need to block editing during this period.

The gNewSense hackers have managed to meet up at the GNU Hackers Meetup. We discussed a variety of subjects related to gNS, and gave a talk to the rest of the GNU crowd.

As of 2009-09-09, the GPG key used for signing the gNewSense packages expired. I've moved its expiry so its still valid, but you are may experience problems downloading updates or packages from our mirrors. To update your key, check FixExpiredArchiveKey. Apologies for this sillyness.

The first gNewSense release - Deltad - has had its binaries removed from our mirrors. All the source is still available, and the archive is updated weekly to ensure no non-free packages sneak into our 'retired' release.

We were recently informed that when our new website skin came into effect in March the licence notice at the bottom of our pages was modified by mistake. We have a short licence update page with details. If you have contributed to our wiki during this time it would be great if you would check the page.

www.gNewSense.org , along with bugs. and wiki. now have a new look, following work by the gNewSense web team. It is the Maguila skin, customised slightly for our usage.
