Spri Linux Beta Two Point One

Many issues have been addressed from the previous Spri Beta One and Beta Two releases, however some issues may remain. Remember, this is a beta release. If you come across any issues, let us know in the forum and we'll get a fix out ASAP

Changes

There are lots of changes in this release, I'll add the ones I consider most important here;

  • The Wallpaper manager has been changed to PCManFM, and as a result, there are now icons on the desktop by default.
  • A shutdown icon has been added to the Spri Desktop. The menu logout buttons will be addressed in a later release.
  • GNOME-Mplayer has replaced gXine as the default videoplayer. I'd appreciate any feedback about this change on this forum thread.
  • Thanks to a suggestion by OU812 on the forum, the volume wheel applet has been replaced and should now be fully functional. Please submit a bug if this isn't the case for you.
  • The Spri and Medibuntu repositories have been added to the repositories list complete with working apt-key, and the spri-desktop package has been added. You should get all updates throught apt using apt-get upgrade.
  • In line with this, upgrade manager has also been added, and is available from the Spri menu.
  • Wicd has replaced network-manager as the network management application. This is a direct result of a bug that I could not fix detailed here. If you have any issues with Wicd, please post on the forum and/or file a bug. If you wish to remina using network manager + nm-applet, the old Spri Beta 2 is still available in the downloads section under "old release".

    I think that is about it. Again, feedback is always appreciated via the forum
