ttylinux 5.0
"ttylinux [is] a minimalistic GNU/Linux distribution. The distribution aims to fit into 4 megabytes of space and run even on 386 class computers, but provides a rather complete command line environment and is prepared for Internet dial-out. [...]
* command line interface, no graphical user interface (GUI)
* Internet dial-out (firewalled) via modem or ISDN card
* text mode web browser installed by default
* SSH (secure shell) client and server
* e3 text editor using WordStar-like commands
* package manager for easy installation of additional software
* installer for CD-ROM based installations to hard disk [...]
For developers, ttylinux can be used as a base for building your own minimalist Linux distribution. Full source code is available, including a modularized build system that automates distribution builds and makes it easy to take packages out of the system or add new ones. [...]
ttylinux 5.0 released. This is the fifth anniversary release of the distribution; to be exact, ttylinux is now 5 years and 1 month old. A big thanks goes out to all the people who have helped make this happen over the years. Keep sending bug reports and feature requests to help improve the distribution.
This release of ttylinux updates bash, dropbear, e3, and retawq to their latest version.
Last, but definitely not least: the distribution now contains a script aptly named "installer" that can be used to install the distribution to a hard disk after booting from the bootable CD-ROM version. It has seen some testing on my end, but don't forget to backup your data before trying it! The process is documented in the user guide."
